Descriptive writing

 Why Write Descriptively?

Descriptive writing is always fun when done correctly. Anyone can indulge in descriptive writing as a personal, instructional, or leisurely activity. It is imperative to utilize the expressive nature that comes with descriptive writing in order to construct proper text/pieces.

TIPS

1. Be Sensual!- Description starts with 5 senses and finishes when all are explored.

2. Show don't tell- Descriptive writing must be done with great detail. Try to give an account of everything you wish to describe rather than just saying words and vague ideas.

3. Adjectives and Verbs!- Language of descriptions should be full of words that describe, explain, or give details on a specific action. Never limit your vocabulary!

Create a Mood- People should feel what you write, and descriptive writing is no exception. Show exactly what you want to make by using emotions.

How to decorate your play corner

Is your play corner fun? Let’s check and see! Is it blue like the ocean or pretty with pink? Get some exciting toys, funny tricks, and helpful tools, even some fresh footballs and short stools. Picture books can be fun too. Play with some creative crafts like coloured paper and glitter glue. Make your play corner fun, exciting, and alive!

  1. I really enjoyed your post about descriptive writing! Your tips were clear and helpful, especially the reminders to use the five senses and to “show, not tell.” Your example about decorating a play corner was bright and fun I could picture the colors, toys, and craft materials very clearly. You did a great job creating a lively mood and showing how descriptive writing brings ideas to life. Great work!
