Persuasive Letters
Persuasive Thoughts
Persuasive writing, whether it be letter or essay format, is a skill rather than a pleasure. Any writer should be able to appreciate persuasive text. In utilizing persuasion the writer not only has to think from their perspective, but also from the perspective of others. Persuasive writing can be both a discreet or bold expression as it serves to bring readers into your way of thinking.

Dear Mommy,
I’m wondering if you could buy me a
new video game. I know you will say that video games are ‘poison’ but let us
look at why you should buy me one. I think buying the new “Dance-Dance
Revolution” would be great! You are always saying that games are expensive, but
this one is only $30! That is less than half the price of these senseless
shooting games! Isn’t that a steal of a deal?
This game is also very healthy. Most
video games will ‘rot your brain’ as they say, but this one is so active. The
game lets you pick a song and match the dance moves for points. That sounds
like exercise to me! I can play by myself or with the whole family! What a
great game to have mommy! It is both easy to get and fun for all. Having a game
like this will make us much happier and healthier, don’t you agree?
Your Dear Son,
Radhames.
This was a very interesting letter. I think that if I was your mom I would really consider buying you the video game.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post about persuasive writing! You explained the tips very clearly, like stating your opinion, giving strong reasons, and considering counterarguments. Your example letter was excellent you used persuasive language, gave solid reasons, and even addressed what your mom might think. I could see how you tried to convince her in a fun and clever way. Great job showing how persuasive writing works in real life!
